Hole 3, Par 4 - 400 yards
The Third hole is a great short par 4 which catches out many a golfer. From the White or the Yellow tees it may pay you to use an Iron off the tee and place the drive instead of going for length.
The hole,as you can see, is a sharp dogleg to the right and is a masterpiece of course design. The fairway slopes sharply to the right and you need to hit to the left hand side, and past the trees on the right, to give you a clear view of the green for your second.
A 200 - 220 yard drive is about the best shot to play here and this leaves you about 150 - 180 to go.
The green is well guarded but wide enough and is an excellent putting surface. Generally the flag is positioned on the top tier and many people are left with a long first putt which can be intimidating as the green is sharply sloped from the back. Although one of the shorter par 4's on the course I'm always pleased to write 4 down on the card leaving the green. So will you be !
