Hole 4, Par 3 - 173 yards
The first par 3 on any course tends to be intimidating and as you can see this lovely hole is no pushover. Short enough at about 160 yards this is no problen for the better golfers but for higher handicappers always presents a challenge.
This hole shows for the first time since starting the excellent way in which water has been used at Rathsallagh to create not only a good looking golf hole but the illusion of making what should be a simple shot difficult.
The green is fairly narrow at the front and slopes in three different directions to make getting close to the hole fairly difficult. The bunker on the right catches about 20% of all tee shots here and is ideally placed to catch the errant drive.
There is a bank at the back of the green and although you do not want to hit long it is better to err on the side of safety and make sure you reach the back of the green rather than leave the shot short. An excellent Golf Hole.
Our Clubhouse overlooks the 9th, 10th and 18th holes and is the perfect location to watch your partners finish their round from. Excellent food and beverages await you in this fine facility upon your return. Our Golf Shop stocks an excellent selection of clothing, balls and accessories, and Club, Shoe and Buggy and Electric Golf Cart Hire are all available on request.
Rathsallagh is an ideal location for a short weekend break , just 1 hour from Dublin Airport and Dublin City Center. . For a weekend of golf the The K Club ( home of the 2006 Ryder Cup ) is just 35 minutes away. Also the PGA National at Palmerston, The Heritage, Mount Juliet, Carton , Druids Glen and Powerscourt are all within an hours drive. For shopping and sightseeing close to the Kildare Retail Village , the Irish National Stud, Kilkenny Castle and the Wicklow National Park.
